Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing our Tax Department.

The Tax Manager will assist in hiring, disciplinary actions, as well as monitoring workload of the tax department. They will also ensure that Complete Payroll client’s filings and tax payments are being done timely and in compliance of any state, local and federal payroll tax regulations. The Tax Manager will be responsible for troubleshooting issues that Tax Specialists cannot resolve. Keep track of reoccurring notices and provide suggestions on process improvements. The Tax Manager will be responsible for keeping up and keeping track of industry trends.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the daily functions of the tax department
  • Manage the workloads of the department through metrics
  • Make sure that all processes of the Tax department have procedures and are well documented.
  • Assist team members with tax notices or questions that arise daily
  • Coordinate and assist with the training of any new Tax Specialist
  • Keep track of communication of the tax department with other departments in the company.
  • Oversee projects for the department as needed
  • Responsible for making sure that Quarter and Year End filings are completed, as well as the scheduling and delegating of the required duties during those Quarters
  • Conduct Semi-Monthly 1 on 1s with each Tax Specialist
  • Maintain privacy of sensitive and confidential information
  • Will participate in a wide-range of company projects and events

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • BA in Business Administration or related field is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of management-level experience is required.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google environment are required.
  • Experience with payroll software a plus.
  • Familiarity with state and federal tax regulations is a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Must be efficient with strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers), demonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to manage projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, confidentiality in maintaining sensitive information.
  • Internet savvy.
